Soil pH - A reference guide to pH levels for plants

Here's a handy reference chart illustrating what pH levels are best for your plants. Most plants prefer neutral to slightly acidic soil (pH 6.5) with a variance of at least 1.0 pH point although some plants have more specific requirements. Soil pH can be influenced by such factors as rainfall, type of soil used, existing mineral deposits and the addition of soil conditioners. Soil pH affects the ability of plants to absorb fertilizers and other soil trace elements as well as affecting the level of soil bacteria, which is essential for healthy soil.
